University of Kent beat University of Greenwich

The Universities at Medway Boat Race was established last year and in the inaugural event, Greenwich beat Kent. Defeat weighed heavy on Kent and this year they were determined to reverse the result.  At the start they powered away to establish an early lead that they never relinquished.  They continued to press their advantage and when they came into view off Borstal Marina they had a considerable lead. They went on to complete the 2.6 kilometre course in the very good time of 11min 14 sec's and take the winners trophy.  In the spirit of the event, Greenwich never gave up the cause and finished in a time of 12 min 39 sec.
