As its name suggests, the Club is situated on the River Medway. To the south of its location can be seen the impressive structures of the Medway Bridge which carry the M2 Motorway adjacent to the bridge for the Channel Tunnel Rail Link. To the north and overlooked by the impressive Norman keep of Rochester Castle stands Rochester Bridge. Nearby is the historic Rochester Cathedral and all the buildings here associated with Charles Dickens.  The Boathouse is situated on the east bank of the meandering River Medway and stands on a large concrete slipway built by aeronautical pioneers Shorts Brothers, to facilitate launching their largest flying boats.
