Head of the Nene Liz McVeigh wins "Senior" Eights
Above - Liz McVeigh wearing Medway's colours in the Head of the Nene Since 1997, Liz has been rowing with a collection of other like-minded veterans from clubs around the country. They often meet to train at Bedford and have won quite a few events over the years but never before in the "Senior" category. When possible the crew competes against its own age group, but on Saturday 6th February, they had to enter the "Senior" class in Peterborough RC's Head of the Nene as no veteran category was offered. Her crew was surprised and delighted when they realised they had the edge over the other crews in their event. Although Liz has always competed with distinction, this was her first win at senior level for 30 years - what a brilliant start to 2010 for her, the crew and for Medway Towns Rowing Club.
