Shaun Martin and Michael Russell

Double gold winners at the British Masters Rowing Championships

On Sunday 12th  June, Shaun Martin and Michael Russell travelled to Nottingham to take part in the British Rowing Masters Championships. They entered a Masters B Double Scull  and a composite Masters B Quad Four and won both events. In the final of the Double Sculls they lined up against Peterborough City RC, Warwick RC, Bewl Bridge RC, Burton Leander RC and a Putney Town/Twickenham composite. It was was a particularly tense race between Medway, Peterborough and Warwick as at half way less than a second separated them with Medway and Peterborough neck and neck. This continued to the finish where Medway just came home winners by a mere 2 tenths of a second. Warwick were just a further 6 tenths of a second further back and took third place.

Shaun and Michael then joined up with two members of Old Monmouthians and took the stern seats to make a composite Masters B Quad. Chris Knight and Alex Butler crewed at Bow and 2 and their final was an easier race beating Walton and Ardingly Rowing Clubs who took second and third places.
