Boxing Day Racing 2011

On Boxing Day morning, twenty five members turned up at the Club to participate in some very low key scratch races in our stable IVs. After rowing the members enjoyed mince pies and a chocolate cake and were lucky that the day was dry and mild (12 degrees). All agreed that it was a successful morning, better than just paddling up and down the river. The crews are seen going afloat. For those who remember the days of gig racing on the Medway, in shape and size the boats will look somewhat similar to those used at that time. They are wide, very stable, ideal for coaching novices and for rowing on days not amenable to fine boats.
